WE WERE NOT MOBILIZED FOR NYSC AND STILL NOT AWARDED OUR STATEMENT OF RESULT AFTER OVER 6MONTHS OF GRADUATION: "A CALL FOR DETAILED EXPLANATION FROM THE POLYTECHNIC, IBADAN MANAGEMENT, AND ALL CONCERNED PARTIES"

By Aggrieved Graduate...
Distinguish Readers,

It is absolutely imperative at this point in time to first appreciate the good work done so far by the past comrade of the institution, most especially the past Student Union Executives, the gallants honourables of the SUG 2016/2027 and past executives of faculties and departments of The Polytechnic, Ibadan.

Let me sincerely say without mixing words that the school management response to our newsletter has been a deafening silence, in short, it was very noticeable that nothing was said or done which was what prompted me to penned this article to awake the sleeping management. Before proceeding to the body of my article, I'd also love to extend my gratitude to the Dean Students affairs for his fatherly support and love for us, it's very glaring that the situation at hand is beyond your power but nevertheless you are appreciated.

To start with, following the title of this article which necessitates that the school management should give detailed explanation on why 2016/2017 graduates were not mobilized for Nysc after several months of graduating from school and why our statement of result was yet to be issued to us. To me, unavailability of processed graduating student's result and resultant mobilization problem.

Without any attempt to demean the school management, let me quickly remind the school management that, it is inherently in human nature to revolt against all intimidation being carried out on them.

The Polytechnic, Ibadan finished her second semester 2016/2017 examinations around September last year and yet students were not mobilized for NYSC, Why? Factually, there are schools who finished their exams after the Polytechnic, Ibadan had finished their own and yet their students were mobilized for the last year Nysc batch B (Stream I and II). In fact, there are schools who finished exams early this year and their students were still mobilized for Nysc Batch A. "We have our career planned out, why are you derailing us?"

Again, it was a completely baseless assertion that the school Mobilization process was delayed by the last strike the school went on. After the school resumed for this new session, we still have schools who mobilized their student, examples include OAU, OOU, ADO EKITI FEDERAL POLYTECHNIC, THE OKE OFUN POLYTECHNIC, among others. It's simply a sign that the management has a lackadaisical approach towards their job except the management prove otherwise.

Recently, some comrades in struggle took a bold step by writing the rector of the school in person of PROFESSOR O. O. FAWOLE but their efforts to see him went largely unacknowledged. We could have staged a peaceful protest but we thought writing the management would be the best solution but all efforts went futile.

I urge the school management to showcase a quality of a responsive, responsible, and efficient administration in every intellectual environment like The Polytechnic, Ibadan as there is a crying need to know why statement result was yet to be issued to us after over 5months of leaving school, why we were not mobilized till present and when we would be mobilized.

Lastly, before I step aside, let me quickly call on the appropriate body that is responsible for policy(ies) making, results collation and approval, students affairs, mobilization of graduates for National Youth Corps for this Polytechnic and the Rector being the head, that it is highly imperative at this point in time, to respond to all our newsletter and to also state reason(s) why we are facing mobilization and results problem. I hope the school management reads this piece and hope that they respond on time through the necessary body.

Thank you.
