We the Poly Ibadan News TEAM got information about the news that circulated on social media using our brand name POLY IBADAN NEWS BLOG and tagged with the rumor and false information about the school on April 1st known as FOOL DAY. We will like to announce to you that the rumor or false information wasn't published on our blog and neither was such posted on our platform by any of our team. We, therefore, advise the public and students to disregard the information.
We were able to put a call through the person who forwarded the message until we reach the original writer of the said rumor information whose surname is Oyelami from the Faculty of engineering. We accused the original writer of sharing false information using the influence of our brand name and thereby misrepresenting our brand name. See his response below.
We further up our claim and advise him never to tagged our brand name anymore because we won't hesitate to take legal steps against him. See his response below.
Another writer whose nickname is MAC-ALOH also claimed that he wrote the rumor as well. See image below.
We hope this will be enough proof for the public to know that the information shared is not from our source. We know that POLY IBADAN NEWS PLATFORM has continued to grow its audience so large since 2017 and has always been one of the best sources of information in the school for the students and its environs. We are not surprised that a writer took pride in our brand name and to use our influence to make themselves popular without full authorization. People don't go after a platform that doesn't have influence or value. Using our BRAND NAME is not the problem but using it negatively is what is totally wrong.
We the POLY IBADAN NEWS TEAM has come together to put our structure in place in order to fight against fake news so that this won't occur in the future.
THE POLY IBADAN NEWS PLATFORM has never and will never indulge in sharing information not confirmed to be true from the school management first. Our team verified every information being share to our platform and we will always do our possible best to be of continual value and of service to the students of The Polytechnic Ibadan.
OUR CONCLUSION: Fight against fake news, confirm news before sharing.
